Singapore English Learning Tour: Language, Culture, and Exploration for KTS Students
From July 6-10, 2024, twenty KTS students embarked on an immersive English learning tour in Singapore. The objectives were to practice English in authentic settings, explore educational institutions, and gain insights into the country's diverse culture.
At the National University of Singapore, two university student ambassadors led the group on a tour of the campus and facilitated an engaging debate session to hone the KTS students' English skills. They then visited the National Science Museum to learn about the integration of STEAM education.
The cultural aspect of the tour was equally captivating. The group explored the vibrant neighborhoods of Little India and the Arab Village, immersing themselves in the sights, sounds, and flavors of these distinct enclaves. They also visited heritage sites, such as the Malay Heritage Centre, to learn about Singapore's rich history and multicultural identity.
The adventure continued at the Night Safari, where the KTS students observed nocturnal animal behaviors and learned about wildlife conservation efforts. Students later ventured to Universal Studios Singapore, providing a thrilling environment to practice their English language skills.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Marina Bay area, where the group learned about the diverse vegetation and landscaping that contribute to Singapore's reputation as a "City in a Garden." During this visit, the KTS students also gained an in-depth understanding of Singapore's innovative water management and sustainability initiatives, such as the Marina Barrage.
The Singapore English Learning Tour offered a unique blend of language learning, cultural exploration, and memorable experiences. The KTS students returned home with improved English proficiency and a deeper appreciation for Singapore's blend of modernity and tradition.
